OUR MISSION

Pixie Scout is a collaborative team of food and hospitality professionals creating and sharing food and beverage provisions in service of joyful food experiences.

OUR GUIDING PRINCIPLES

STEWARDSHIP We respect that the way we produce, distribute and consume food directly impacts our ecosystem. We craft our menus to reflect the best flavors of a particular season as well as the biodiversity needed to keep our region’s farms and waters healthy. We source our ingredients from biodiverse and sustainable operations within our regional foodshed as well as suppliers aligned with our values. We make everything we possibly can from scratch, using all parts of ingredients that enter our kitchen, minimizing waste wherever we can and disposing of materials in responsible and renewable ways. We package, distribute and serve our food in reusable and compostable materials. We measure our company’s environmental impact and strive for better systems constantly.

SERVICE We believe that genuine warmth and respect — cultivated first within our business — has the power to transform the spaces that we inhabit as a company. We celebrate every individual’s right to define and share their full identity; rejecting all forms of discrimination within our workplace and in all manifestations of our company in the community. We rely on collaborative teamwork where ideas and contributions are encouraged and valued. We practice mutual respect, sharing leadership roles, empowering each other to take ownership of what we do and how we do it. We strive for a work culture and wage rates that enable full and balanced livelihood in one of the world’s most expensive cities. We work hard to dismantle racism, classicism, sexism and other exploitative and marginalizing structures that have long defined our industry; centering instead, principles of transformational hospitality.

SOVEREIGNTY We understand ourselves, our resources and our actions as part of interconnected local and global communities. We acknowledge that our workplace and means of production rest upon land first stewarded by and stolen from Indigenous communities and nations — most locally, the Lenape. We invest a portion of our revenue in community controlled and regenerative food systems and work. We believe that food access, security and sovereignty are human rights. The systemic withholding of them in our country and immediate community is an insidious means of suppression. We work to make our own food accessible and we strive to build long term relationships of accountability with organizations in our community creating greater food access, security and sovereignty. We prioritize purchasing, whenever possible, from Black and Indigenous growers and producers.
